October 2026¶
A round of new tools and features were added: Engineering notebooks are now embedded on some of the subsystem pages, derating got a proper treatment across five pages sourced from ECSS-Q-ST-30-11, and the site can be cited with a DOI. The glossary grew by 18 entries along the way.
Engineering notebooks¶
The marimo notebooks for link budget, power budget, optical payload and orbital lifetime are embedded as collapsible sections on the pages that use them. They are work in progress and meant for planning estimates. The "Tools" page keeps the links.
- Comms: Embed the Link Budget and Antenna Visualizer notebooks ↗
- EPS: Embed the Power Budget notebook ↗
- Payload: Embed the Optical Payload notebook ↗
- Launch: Embed the Orbital Lifetime notebook under Space debris mitigation ↗
- Tools: List the notebooks as a resource block with app and editable links, note that they are embedded on their subsystem pages ↗
Parts and derating¶
A new section on Standards and derating applied where it bites.
- Standards: Add a Parts and derating section ↗
- EPS: Add component and connector derating from ECSS-Q-ST-30-11 ↗
- Comms: Add RF connector derating and multipactor margin ↗
- AIT: Add the connector mating-cycle limit and connector savers ↗
- OBC: Point the derating bullet to EPS ↗
Citing the site¶
The site is archived on Zenodo under 10.5281/zenodo.23256397.
- Citation: Add CITATION.cff with the Zenodo DOI, a CC0 notice and a citation section in the footer, and the DOI in the README ↗
Glossary¶
- Glossary: Add 18 entries for orbital lifetime, antennas, power rails and PEEK, revise 11 – the derating entry now names ECSS-Q-ST-30-11 ↗
New resources¶
- EPS: Add the OreSat open-source solar panel designs ↗
- Books: Add The Spacecraft Hacker's Handbook ↗
- Videos: Add the saveitforparts review of The Spacecraft Hacker's Handbook and the 4111Spyglass channel ↗
- Missions: Add 4111Spyglass ↗
Smaller fixes¶
- Structure: Correct XCD maximum lengths per format ↗
- Standards: Align the deployer manual count ↗
- Launch providers: Fix the Isar orbit footnote URL and attribution ↗
